Mr Barnabus Young Irish sport horse has been with Eleanor for a season. He came to her returning to eventing after a hiatus. Previously he placed at one star level with a previous rider. Last season Eleanor and Barney ran successfully in the UK at Intermediate level and competed at Burgie CCI**. He has recently moved to the US with Eleanor and is enjoying the warmer dry weather and is looking forward to getting started on the US eventing scene. He is a very flashy boy, and extremely cheeky on the yard…his favourite trick being to reach out and “undress” unsuspecting passers-by. Mazetto Is a new ride this season. He is an experienced advanced event horse. Having made the trip to the US successfully in early July,he is making his US debut at a prelim level pipe opener at the Maryland Horse trials July 22nd. Will move on to MIllbrook with a target of Fairhill this Fall. His barn name, Eric has mutated to Clapton since he made the move across the pond. He and Barney are enjoying the extended turnout and Virginia grass that Carousel Farm provides! Bailey Zwei (II) (in memoriam) Was Hanoverian/thoroughbred cross, ran three seasons at advanced level in the US and UK and was with Eleanor from 2000. He was bought as a 9 year old, from a riding/trekking stables attached to a ski resort in the Blue ridge mountains of Virginia. He was green to competition riding, though he had nice breeding he had fallen on hard times due to his sometimes difficult temperament (bucking off clients), and was otherwise to be sold as a packhorse. We were warned that he might do low level dressage but wouldn't jump. Eleanor brought him up through the levels in the USA from intro to Advanced, via Virginia CCI*, Morven* 10/50, Jersey Fresh**, Foxhall Cup*** Culminating in Advanced Champion US Eventing Association Area 2 (EastCoast/MidAtlantic). UK, Bramham 10th place, Gatcombe, Thirlestane, Badminton 2005 44/90. Bailey is wasl quite a character, not particularly tolerant of strangers - but his weak spot is the polo mint, wave one near him, his tongue will reach for that hole in the middle and you will be his friend for life. |
